Morpheus8 is a minimally invasive procedure that combines the power of radiofrequency energy with microneedling to reduce the appearance of signs of aging and other skin concerns. This advanced technology transforms your complexion and achieves a rejuvenated appearance with minimal downtime.
Morpheus8 is a combination of radiofrequency and microneedling. The microneedling creates micro-injuries (tiny punctures) in the skin while the radiofrequency energy penetrates the deeper skin layers. These processes stimulate the production of two essential skin proteins called collagen and elastin. Collagen helps maintain the integrity and structures of the skin while elastin makes the skin elastic. With increased collagen production, skin cell turnover also happens at a faster rate. This process replaces old, damaged skin cells with new, healthier cells to achieve more youthful skin.
This advanced technology offers the following advantages:
Just like any other minimally invasive procedures, Morpheus8 treatment also has risks and complications such as:
Before your Morpheus8 treatment, Nurse Kelly will provide specific instructions to ensure the best clinical outcomes. These include the following:
During the treatment, a numbing cream will be applied to the target area to minimize discomfort. The device will be then placed over your skin for a certain amount of time. This allows the tiny needles to pass through the skin and deliver radiofrequency energy. Nurse Kelly’s training and experience helps her personalise your treatment settings leading to more uniform results without damaging the deeper layers of your skin.
After the treatment, you may experience redness, bruising, and swelling. These are expected and will only last for a few days. During the first 24 to 48 hours, you should avoid strenuous exercise and other activities that cause sweating to avoid skin irritation. For best results, you should use a moisturizer and sunscreen as your skin heals. You may need to follow up with Nurse Kelly to determine your progress or if additional treatments are necessary.
Aside from being approved by the FDA for skin rejuvenation treatment, the benefits of Morpheus8 on different skin conditions are backed by a number of studies.
The Morpheus8 device combines two powerful technologies to reduce the appearance of signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity (loose, sagging skin). The microneedling creates micro-injuries in the skin while the radiofrequency energy penetrates the deeper skin layers – both of which boost the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother and rejuvenated skin.
A review of forty-two higher-quality studies assessing the effects of radiofrequency microneedling on the signs of aging was conducted. [1] Results showed that radiofrequency microneedling is an effective treatment for fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity and can be used repeatedly and safely in combination with other treatment modalities in patients with darker skin types. The remodeling effects of radiofrequency microneedling in these patients were found to continue to improve 6 months after the treatment.
Two hundred forty-seven patients (234 women and 13 men) were included in a study assessing the effects of radiofrequency microneedling using Morpheus8 on lower face and neck laxity. [2] Skin laxity was measured using the Baker Face/Neck Classification after the Morpheus8 treatment. Ninety-three percent of the patients had improved Baker Face/Neck Classification scores and reported increased satisfaction and desire to undergo the treatment again.
A study evaluated the use of radiofrequency in combination with microneedling to non-surgically improve skin laxity associated with significant weight loss. [3] The study included a 39-year-old woman with skin laxity on the thighs due to weight loss. The patient received two sessions of radiofrequency microneedling with an interval of 5 months. Two months after the second treatment, an improvement in skin laxity and depth of depression was observed. Moreover, the patient reported satisfaction with the results.

Morpheus8 combines microneedling and radiofrequency to boost the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother, tighter, and rejuvenated skin.
Scars due to acne, surgery, or traumatic injuries can be effectively treated with Morpheus8. The combination of microneedling and radiofrequency encourages collagen production. This in turn repairs the damaged skin and fills in sunken areas, improving the appearance and adding volume to the skin. Over time, the treated area becomes smoother, radiant, and healthier.
A study assessed the safety and efficacy of combined fractional microneedle radiofrequency and CO2 laser treatment in 71 patients with inflammatory acne and acne scars who are receiving acne medications. [4] Forty-three of the patients were receiving low-dose isotretinoin (an anti-acne medication) or had completed isotretinoin within the past 3 weeks. It was concluded that combined fractional microneedle radiofrequency and CO2 laser treatment resulted in a significant decrease in the number of inflammatory lesions and scar severity with no reported persistent side effects.
The effects of the combination of radiofrequency microneedling, corticosteroids, and onabotulinumtoxinA (a substance that blocks nerve signals) were assessed in a patient with thick raised scars and Fitzpatrick Skin Type IV (light-brown skin). [5] Three weeks after the treatment, a significant improvement in both color and texture of the scars was observed. The patient did not report any side effects associated with the treatment.
Fifty-two patients (15-43 years old) with severe acne scars were included in a study. [6] All subjects were treated with fractional radiofrequency microneedling for a total of four sessions at 1-month intervals. At the 3-month follow-up visit, the subjects had significant improvements in scar color and severity compared with the pre-treatment period. The results continued to improve 3 months after the end of treatment.

Morpheus8 fills in sunken areas and adds volume to the skin by increasing collagen production, resulting in decreased appearance of scars.
As the fat cells in your body increase, they push up against your skin, creating an uneven surface or a dimpling appearance called cellulite. With increased fat deposits underneath the skin, cellulite becomes more noticeable. This can occur in different body areas such as the thighs, hips, buttocks, and abdomen. Interestingly, Morpheus8 is FDA-approved as a Subdermal Adipose Remodeling Device (SARD). This means that this state-of-the-art device can liquefy fat through controlled heat energy while contouring the treatment area.
Fifty subjects with grade 3 cellulite were included in a study assessing the benefits of microneedle fractional bipolar radiofrequency system on this skin condition. [7] All of the subjects received 1 subcutaneous (under the skin) microneedle radiofrequency treatment and they were evaluated by 3 dermatologists. After 6 months, a significant reduction in skin dimpling was observed with no reported adverse events.
A study evaluated the effects of microneedle fractional radiofrequency for the treatment of skin laxity and fat deposits on the thighs, upper arms, and bra line. [8] Outcomes of the treatment were assessed at 1-, 3-, and 6-month follow-ups. In all of the subjects, an improvement in skin laxity and a reduction in fat deposits in the upper arms and bra line were observed at all time points. In addition, the subjects reported a high patient satisfaction rate and that the treatment was well-tolerated.
A modified radiofrequency microneedling technique was performed by inserting the needles through the muscle area to treat patients with signs of aging and fat deposits. [9] Results showed that the treatment significantly reduced wrinkles in the brow, mouth, upper lips, and eyelid area. Moreover, a reduction in lower-lid fat pads was also observed.

Morpheus8 liquefies fat by delivering controlled heat energy, thus improving the contour of the body area.
Hyperpigmentation is characterized by skin patches that are usually darker than the surrounding areas of the skin. By combining the power of microneedling and radiofrequency, Morpheus8 can treat abnormal skin discoloration by breaking down and reducing the pigment called melanin which is responsible for the color of your skin.
Fifteen patients with melasma (gray-brown skin patches on the face) received five sessions of the combination of laser toning and microneedle radiofrequency on the right side of the face and laser toning alone on the left side. [10] The levels of melanin in the skin were assessed using a special machine. The pigmentation and severity index (PSI) score and the patient’s overall assessment were also evaluated. After five treatment sessions, combination therapy with laser toning and microneedle radiofrequency significantly reduced the appearance of melasma than laser toning alone with no remarkable side effects reported. The combined treatment also resulted in an increased loosening of melanin-producing cells.
A study evaluated the effects of new pulsed-type microneedling radiofrequency in forty-four patients diagnosed with facial melasma. [11] All of the subjects received 5 treatments with microneedling radiofrequency at 2-week intervals and were evaluated at 4 and 8 weeks after the last treatment. Results showed that most of the patients exhibited clinical improvement in melasma. A decrease in melanin pigment was also observed.
Thirty adult participants with melasma received three treatments with microneedling radiofrequency on both sides of the face once every 2 weeks. [12] A skin analysis was performed using a special machine before and after the treatment. After 6 months, significant improvements in melasma severity, skin roughness, and satisfaction were observed.
Treatment Options
Morpheus8 uses controlled heat to break down and reduce the pigment called melanin, resulting in smoother skin that is free from dark skin patches.
Morpheus8 treatment can also help address enlarged pores. By combining microneedling and radiofrequency, the production of collagen will significantly increase. This in turn firms and tightens the skin surrounding the pores, minimizing their size.
Twenty female patients with signs of skin aging received six sessions of fractional microneedle radiofrequency treatment. [13] The patients were assessed before the treatment and then 3 months after using a skin ultrasound imaging system. Results showed a significant reduction in skin pores, spots, and water loss from the skin. In addition, an increase in skin density was also observed.
Nineteen patients with enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, and indented acne scars were included in a study. [14] Each patient received 2 to 6 treatments with fractional microneedle radiofrequency with an interval of one month between treatments. The treated areas were assessed for side effects such as burns, swelling, and redness. Results showed that the patients had significant reductions in acne scars and pore size and had improved skin texture with no adverse events.
Seventy-five patients with enlarged facial pores were included in a study assessing the benefits of fractional microneedle radiofrequency treatment. [15] All patients received more than one treatment session. After the first session, moderate to excellent improvement rates in the appearance of enlarged pores in the nose and cheeks of the patients were observed. The improvement rates continued to increase as the patients received more treatments.
Treatment Options
Morpheus8 firms and tightens the skin surrounding the pores through increased collagen production, minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores.
Excessive sweating, medically known as hyperhidrosis, can significantly affect your daily activities by causing anxiety and embarrassment. Morpheus8 can help treat excessive sweating by addressing the root cause of this condition – excessive sweat production by the sweat glands. The radiofrequency energy emitted by the Morpheus8 device prevents the sweat glands from producing too much sweat.
A study compared the clinical efficacy between fractional microneedle radiofrequency and botulinum toxin type A injection (a controlled toxin used to block nerve signals) in the treatment of patients with excessive armpit sweating. [16] Twenty female subjects were included in the study. All subjects received fractional microneedle radiofrequency on one side of the armpit while botulinum toxin type A injection on the other side. After 12 weeks, both treatments reduced excessive armpit sweating and improved the quality of life of the subjects. However, significant improvements were seen in subjects who were treated with botulinum toxin type A injection.
The safety and efficacy of fractional microneedle radiofrequency treatment were evaluated in 20 patients with excessive armpit sweating. [17] All of the patients received the treatment twice at 4-week intervals. After 1 month, most of the patients reported a significant improvement in their sweating. In addition, the patients also had a decrease in the number and size of their sweat glands.
Sixteen patients with excessive armpit sweating received two fractional microneedle radiofrequency treatment sessions at a 3-week interval and were followed up until week 15. [18] The area and amount of sweat produced by the patients were evaluated using specific tests. Results showed that the patients had significant improvement in sweating at weeks 3 and 15 with no serious adverse events.
Treatment Options
Morpheus8 treats excessive sweating by preventing the sweat glands from producing too much sweat.
While many patients experience impressive results after just one treatment, you will need a course of three sessions, spaced monthly, to achieve the best clinical outcomes.
Depending on your lifestyle and skincare regimen, the results of the treatment can last between 1 to 3 years.
The treatment can be used on different body areas such as the face, neck, chest, arms, legs, abdomen, and buttocks.
You will need to wait 1 to 2 days before wearing makeup because your skin will be sensitive after the treatment.
Scabbing can occur as part of your body’s natural healing process. It is recommended to avoid picking or rubbing the scabs to prevent scarring and infection. Over time, the scabs will slough off naturally, revealing smoother, healthier, and younger-looking skin.
The advanced technology of Morpheus8 allows it to provide controlled and consistent heat energy without damaging the deeper skin layers. You might feel a slight prickling or warm sensation during the treatment. To ensure optimal comfort, a numbing cream will be applied to the target area before the treatment.
The cost associated with the treatment will vary from patient to patient. Several factors such as the condition being treated, the location and size of the body area, the practitioner’s fee, and the medical facility fee can affect the total cost.
